To enable the built-in firewall of Windows XP:
- Open Network Connections in the Control Panel.
- Click on the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet Connection that you want to protect, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection:

- In the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall select Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from Internet:

- Click on the Settings... button to change the settings for the firewall, in the tab Security Logging select the logging options and a path for the log file:

Using fwlogwatch to analyze the log file:
- Read the fwlogwatch README and man page
- You can build and run fwlogwatch natively with cygwin or remotely on unix
- Specify the parser for the log file with -P w,
For example, fwlogwatch -vv -P w -f /winxp/firewalllog/myfirewall.log
